Cardiovascular Health
Clinical trials have shown that omega 3 is effective in reducing the incidence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Fish oil is a great source of omega 3 and therefore, reduces the risk of heart diseases and heart arrhythmias. It also lowers the level of bad cholesterol (LDL), and increases the level of good cholesterol (HDL). Fish oil prevents the accumulation of triglycerides and further reduces the level of excess triglycerides. Preliminary research has also shown that fish oil can be used to prevent atherosclerosis in coronary patients.
Anti-Inflammatory Properties
Fish oil is effective in reducing inflammation in the blood and tissues. Regular consumption of fish oil has been found helpful to those who suffer from chronic inflammatory diseases.
Cell Membrane Health
Higher intakes of omega-3s actually improves the composition of cell membranes, allowing improved nutrient filtration and overall organism functioning.
Immune System
Studies have shown fish oil high in the omega-3 fatty acid compound DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) to improve immune system functioning.
Mental Health
Fish oil has been proven to alleviate symptoms of depression, sadness, anxiety, restlessness, mental fatigue, stress, decreased sexual desire, suicidal tendencies and other nervous disorders.
Skin Health
Fish Oil is useful in treating various skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, itching, skin redness, skin lesions, and rashes.
Hair Health
Omega-3 fatty acids has been shown to nourish the hair follicles for stronger, shinier hair that grows faster.
Fish oil is an effective treatment for acne. EPA is known to inhibit androgen formation, which can affect the formation of sebum in hair follicle, leading to acne.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Fish Oil has been proven effective in treating hyperactivity, dyslexia, dyspraxia, inability to complete tasks, emotional instability, wavering attitude, poor coordination, short attention span, short term memory weakness, low concentration, recklessness, hastiness, impetuosity, impulsiveness, low IQ, and learning disorders.
Studies have shown that prolonged use of the oil can be effective in treating arthritis and reducing the associated pain.
Insulin Sensitivity
Supplementing with omega-3s has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity.
Studies have shown fish oil alone or in combination with calcium to slow bone loss rate and increase bone density at the thigh bone (femur) and spine in elderly people with osteoporosis.
Studies have shown that lupus disease activity, especially in the skin and joints, was significantly reduced in patients who received fish oil supplements at versus patients who received placebo. There were also changes in the blood platelets of the patients who took the fish oil supplements, with an increase in proteins that are considered anti-inflammatory.
Parkinson’s Disease
Studies have shown that high doses of omega-3 prevented the neurotoxin-induced decrease of dopamine that ordinarily occurs. Since Parkinson’s is a disease caused by disruption of the dopamine system, this protective effect could show promise for future research in the prevention of Parkinson’s disease.
Alzheimer’s Disease
Studies have shown that fatty acids are effective in treating Alzheimer’s disease. Since fish oil is one of the best sources of essential fatty acids, including EPA and DHA, it helps in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Flaxseed Oil

Cardiovascular Health
There is evidence suggesting that linolenic acid in the diet prevents hardening of the arteries. Studies have shown that people with existing heart disease, who get more alpha-linolenic acid from their diet, have a lower risk of dying from heart disease.
Rheumatoid Arthritis and Inflammatory Diseases
The alpha-linolenic acid and related chemicals in flaxseed oil decrease inflammation. That is why flaxseed oil is considered useful for rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory (swelling) diseases.
Some research shows that taking flaxseed oil does not significantly reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels in people with high cholesterol and high triglycerides.
Attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
There is some evidence that taking flaxseed oil might improve attention, impulsiveness, restlessness, and self-control in children with ADHD.
Flaxseed oil contains lignans which reduce the risk of cancer. Some of the other components in flaxseed also have antioxidant properties, which may contribute to protection against cancer and heart disease.

Borage Oil

Cardiovascular Health
Borage oil reduces the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease by reducing plaque and inflammation along the arterial walls and increasing peripheral blood circulation. Both are beneficial to cardiac health.
Rheumatoid Arthritis
There is evidence that taking borage seed oil in combination with conventional painkilling or anti-inflammatory medications might decrease symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis after three to six weeks of treatment.
Growth and Development
Supplemented with fatty acids from borage oil and fish oils seems to improve growth and development of the nervous system in infants born early, especially boys.
Prostaglandin E1 Metabolic Pathway
Borage oil is a desired source of gamma-Linolenic acid (GLA), which is converted into the prostaglandin E1 (PGE1).
Kidney Cleanse
Borage oil ingested as gelatin pills has a very slight diuretic effect due to the concentration of potassium salts. These normalize renal elimination and cleanse the kidneys.
Inflamed Veins
Studies have shown borage oil effective in minimizing inflamed veins.
Fat Metabolism
Studies have shown that the consumption of borage oil improves fatty acids metabolism.
